Where is Immanuel Lutheran Church?

Immanuel Lutheran Church is located on Wolf Road, just south of Cermak Road, which is also known as 22nd Street.  Immanuel occupies 11 acres of property bordered by Wolf Road, Cermak, and Westwood Drive. Just across Wolf Road are located the Westbrook Towers Office Complex.  The offices of the Northern Illinois District of the Lutheran Church - Missourri Synod sit just north and west of the main church parking lot.

The parking lot entrance is off Wolf Road and is just north of the stoplight leading into the Westbrook Office complex.  The school parking lot entrance is just south of the stoplight.  The two lots are connected by driveway in front of the church and school buildings.  Visitors to the church would normally park in the main church lot which is due north of the church.  Entrance to the church is through the door on the north west end of the building. Handicapped drop off and entrances are available on the West side of the church.

One of Immanuel's one room School Houses remains on the property and continues to be in use today for a variety of events including occassional worship services, small groups and social gatherings.  This "Old School House" originally constructed in 1910 and updated and remodeled in the early 2000's is located on Cermak Road just east of Wolf Road. (Immediately behind/next to the Verizon Store).

Immanuel Lutheran operates a cemetery for its members which is located on the north end of the church parking lot.  Many of the original settlers and their families are interned in the cemetery.

Faith, Hope, and Peace Ministries

FHP Ministries is an Outreach Ministry of several local LCMS churches.

This ministry provides weekly Christian Worship led by Lutheran Pastors to residents in Independent and Assisted Living Centers.  These weekly services are open to all of the residents and staff in the facility.  It is a wonderful way to reach out to those who do not yet know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.  At the same time this ministry serves those Lutheran Christians who are no longer able to attend worship at their home congregations.

FHP provides large print hymnals with the Order of Service and favorite hymns for the residents to use.  An organist plays the piano or a keyboard for each service. Volunteers from the supporting congregations assist the residents in participating in the service.  Local Lutheran Pastors lead the worship and deliver the sermon.

Worship services are conducted on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday at 10:30 in the morning.  Six facilities are currently being served with more facilities scheduled to participate later in 2011.

Senior Living Center Project

Immanuel Lutheran Church and School were founded by some of the very first settlers of this area.  It was important for them to provide the means for their children to receive their education and for the community to come together in worship and to serve the common needs of the residents.  Continuing that tradition Immanuel Lutheran is looking to ways to serve the community into the next 150 years.  To that end Immanuel has contracted with a development company to establish an active Senior Living Complex.  This is an independent living community with all of the amenities expected in a first class living center.  More information will be posted as we progress to the creation of this adult community.

To learn more we invite you to visit the developer's web site.
