This small group meets monthly on the second Saturday of the month at 8:00 A.M. at the Marquee Restaurant on Roosevelt Rd in Broadview for breakfast and fellowship. The men's club is primarily a service organization. They are responsible for hosting one to two church clean up days and performing other services as needed by the congregation. They have a major fund raising event each fall (usually the first Saturday of November) to benefit the congregation and other ministries.
Membership is open to men older than High School. If interested in participating please contact Ed Mulvihill at 708-409-0934.
The Men's Club Annual Pancake Breakfast was Saturday November 7, 2009. A bake sale was also held with the breakfast. The proceeds of the breakfast and the bake sale were given to Deaconess Lori Wilbert's ministry in the State Prisons (Voice of Hope). On Wednesday November 18, Lori was the guest speaker at the Day School Chapel service and she was presented with a check for $1000. from the Men's club.
The Men's club sincerely thanks everyone who helped out with the breakfast, the bake sale and especially all of you who came and made your generous offerings.

Prayer Shawl Group
The recent congregation wide effort started by the Prayer Shawl Group to make scarves, hats and mittens for those in need concluded on Thanksgiving Eve, with the blessing of the homemade clothing items. The total of items made by the congregation is:
237 scarves, 45 hats, 4 prs of gloves, 1 pr of mittens and 2 headbands.
Thanks to everyone who made something in this effort - these gifts will bless others!
A prayer shawl is a symbol of God’s unconditional love and compassion created by one person and given to another. Whether they are called Prayer Shawls, Comfort Shawls, or Peace Shawls, the shawl maker begins with prayers and blessings for the recipient. The intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. Upon completion, a final blessing is offered before the shawl is sent on its way. Some recipients have continued the kindness by making a shawl and passing it onto someone in need. Thus, the blessing ripples from person-to-person, with both the giver and receiver feeling the unconditional embrace of a sheltering, loving God!
We have started a small group to make prayer shawls, lap blankets, scarves etc. for nursing homes, shelters, people on our prayer list … anyone who needs a hug.
If you have a passion for knitting or crocheting, join us the first Thursday of each month at the Old School House at 7:00 pm. And if you don’t knit or crochet but have a passion for people, come anyways and we’ll teach you how! We’ll pray, we’ll laugh, we’ll learn, but most of all we will share Jesus’ love! Materials are provided. Please contact Patricia Contraveos at patricia.contraveos@ni.lcms.org if you are interested in joining us or want more information.
Jesus said, “…As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” John 13:34

For years Lutheran men in the Chicagoland area have participated in a ritual of throwing large darts underhanded at a board painted to look like a baseball diamond. This is done in a competitive setting where the teams compete against other congregations. Immanuel has had a team for over 47 years. This event meets most weeks during the school year on Tuesday evenings for games. The Immanuel team meets, practices and competes in the Church Sub-story. Men of all ages are welcome and can play. Skill is not a requirement - the desire to have a good time and enjoy Christian fellowship is!
If you are interested contact Don Bimler at 708-544-4734 or Randy Weeks at 708-492-0057.
